How many times has it happened to you?
Instant messaging applications have changed the world. Nowadays you know when your buddy is online, you can send them a chat message and almost instantly you will get a reply back. No one would ever think about not having an IM application installed on their computer, be it Skype, GTalk, MSN Messenger and many more...
Whenever I have some free time I do use such applications and it is not uncommon to be having around 5 totally different conversations going on at the same time. I know some friends who tend to have around 16 chat windows open. I always wonder how they manage to keep up.
This particular evening I had 4 messenger windows open, 3 of my closest of friends and a woman whom I met during one of my skiing weeks.
I was discussing with one of my friends what we had overheard the day before, and as usual adding a few more details here and there to make it funnier. Do not ask me to go into the details - let your imagination go wild! :)
Anyway, to give you some more clues, some of the messages when read out loud alone could be interpreted in various interesting ways, especially by those who have exceptionally dirty minds - you all know who you are :P
Then it happened, while typing my reply to my friend, still laughing, I did not notice that I was typing in the wrong window. The problem was not the wrong window, but WHICH window - you guessed right, it was the woman's window.
I cannot explain how I felt, while quickly sending an apologetic message, asking her to ignore the message and it was not to be interpreted alone as it was part of a bigger story - probably making it worse!
I had to explain the whole conversation that I was having with my friend and I guess I was very fortunate that she understood everything and we had quite a good laugh together. When I got back to my friend to explain the delay in replying back, he could not stop laughing at what happened - again, our imagination running wild with another batch of funny messages on the way...
Has it ever happened to you?
