There series was then tied 1-1.In game three the Cardinals were able to recover using their struggles with 3 runs in the first 2 innings. This momentum would enable them to postpone the Sox as they traded runs within the later innings. The Cardinals won the next game 5-2.
The Cardinals were excited to transmit Gibson to the mound after his brilliant start in game one. Gibson did not disappoint as the Cardinals managed to shutout the Red Sox 6-0. This could give the Cardinals the 3-1 advantage, putting the Sox about the brink of elimination.The Red Sox just refused to die. Lonborg took the mound and pitched brilliantly.
