Photopic 0.5.4 beta released
A very short blog post, just to let you all know that I have uploaded a new version of Photopic.
On popular demand, this new version now supports the Next and Previous functionality of the lightbox2 module. When a photo is displayed, a visitor may navigate to the next or previous photo with ease.
As raised on drupal.org, why haven't you submitted it as a module on drupal.org?
Do you know how it compares with Picasa Node Album?
Thanks!
Patrick
Hi Patrick,
I have had difficulties in submitting my module, as the moderator told me that there are other modules which have the same features - except that from my experience and from the feedback I got from my module's users, the other modules are difficult to setup and do not work as expected.
I decided not to list it on drupal.org (until they change the module submission policies) and host it myself on my website thus driving a bit of traffic my way :) ...which seems to be working!
The features seem to be very similar, however I noticed that the images are cached on your server with Picasa Node Album. My module does not cache the album thumbnails so not to take up any of your server's bandwidth. My module is very light on resources and my intention is to keep it that way.
Thanks for your comment and I hope that I have answered your questions :)
Kevin
Hi Kevin,
Thank you for this!
Am I correct to think that your module will display the albums of one user only while the other one will be able to display albums from different Google accounts?
Patrick
Although I have not tested that module I think that it may be targeted for websites which allow users to have their own profile page similar to a social networking site. Each user would then be able to show their picasa albums on their profile page.
However I stand to be corrected - the module page is not clear about its features. Why not try it out and let me know?
